👉 Zahava Rose & Menstrual Health

I have PCOS and haven’t had a regular period since my first one at 13.

My hormonal issues don’t cause me too much trouble, and I had actually come to view the absence of a monthly bleed to be somewhat of a blessing.

That mentality quickly changed after spending a night with Zahava Rose at her Menstrual Cycle Workshop (featured in last week’s letter).

I left with a longing for a better relationship with my cycle (no matter how unregular), and appreciating that my cycle is happening every single day — not just when I bleed.

Zahava weaves together the science and energetics of our menstrual cycle in a welcoming and comprehensive way, and I look forward to attending more of her workshops in the future in addition to working with her 1:1.

🔥 Zahava’s Recommendations

  • [Wild Power] – A transformative book emphasizing the power and significance of the menstrual cycle. It argues that women are inherently coded for power, and this power is deeply connected to the rhythm and changes of their menstrual cycle, a crucial yet often misunderstood aspect of female health and wellbeing.

👀 AI’s Censorship of Menstruation

I like to create pictures for this newsletter using Midjourney on Discord, but when trying to create prompts around menstruation, I was consistently told that I had violated community guidelines (see above). Despite my attempts to appeal, Midjourney’s developers came to the same conclusions.

It feels very a lá Instagram censoring images of menstruation.

The decision by Midjourney to disallow the creation of images centered on menstruation—a natural and scientific aspect of life for 50% of the world’s population—is deeply concerning.

In an era where technology should be a tool for challenging outdated perceptions and promoting a healthier discourse, it’s disappointing to see such platforms reinforcing the very biases and barriers we strive to overcome.
